Full aperture performance is softish, especially in the corners. pretty much what you’d expect at f1.8 but perfectly useable. However there is a trace of colour fringing around the black lamp casing.

Still slightly soft at f2.8 - better than full aperture both in the center and in the corners but not the usual Nikon bite. this is one time when test crops really don’t tell he full story. looked at full frame this test shot looks superb.

Sharpness improves a fair bit at f4 and from f5.6 on is excellent but not the razor edge I’d normally expect from a Nikon prime lens. Some of the softness in the test crops - which have all had my standard USM for Fuji S2 files - is probably down to the characteristics of the Fuji which does deliver a softer look than Nikon DSLR’s.
