 Nikon AF 28-85mm f 3.5 - 4.5

Conclusions

Tested with a Fuji S2 Pro

Overall the Nikon AF 28-85mm f3.5 - 4.5 is an excellent lens. Build quality is old style Nikon - excellent - and optical performance, even at full aperture, is very good. The only flaw in the mix is the noticeable colour fringing around the edges of the frame, especially wide open. Stopped down the performance overall is excellent so I’d have no worries about using this lens with digital.

The weakest area in terms of sharpness and fall off in corner illumination is at the longer end of the zoom range. At full aperture there’s noticeable vignetting and a slight drop in sharpness at 70mm and beyond.  Stopped down to f5.6 or better results are fine.
