The Epson Stylus Photo R1800 uses a version of Epson’s pigment ink set and this has performed very well in previous fade tests - producing results identical to those from the Epson Stylus Photo 2100. This year, as an experiment, I’ve tried running my Epson Stylus Photo R1800 on Jettec pigment inks to see if the stability benefits of pigmented ink are passed on even with non OEM inks. Previous tests with non OEM dye inks have tended to show an almost identical result to the manufactures inks when first printed, but with very poor fade resistance - Fade Tests - 2000 Jettec are one of the better non OEM manufacturers and their inks for the R1800 sell for less than half the cost of the Epson originals, but are still pigment inks, so it was worth a try.
